SPRING | From September to November, Spring is a spectacular time to visit Australia. The southern states are blanketed in vivid purple jacaranda blooms, our days are longer, and temperatures typically range from the mid-teens to low 20s°C (60s to 70s°F). While the northern states Queensland, Northern Territory and northern parts of Western Australia enjoy much warmer weather (up to 10 degrees in the far northern parts of the country). Our deep blue oceans are warming up with the promise of summer just around the corner.

Milder conditions make way for a whole host of wildlife spotting, hiking and outdoor events and unforgettable cultural experiences.

SUMMER | From December to January, summer temperatures vary significantly across Australia. Southern states enjoy clear skies, warm evenings, and a range of beach activities, with temperatures between 20°C and 30°C (68°F to 86°F). Sydney Harbour sparkles with superyachts and fireworks for New Year’s Eve celebrations.

In the northern states, summer marks the wet season, bringing high humidity, tropical storms, and potential flooding. Regions like the Northern Territory (including Kakadu and Uluru), far North Queensland, and northern Western Australia (including the Kimberley) can become inaccessible, with many tourism operators and accommodations closing for the season and temperatures often exceeding 35°C (95°F).

AUTUMN | March to May, is a wonderful time to visit Australia. Marked by the changing of leaves, our mountains and national parks are awash with a sea of vivid colour. Temperatures range from 15°C to 25°C (59°F to 77°F). Spectacular waterfalls are at their peak putting on a show, wildlife is out and about, and Whale Sharks are migrating. Clear skies make way for star gazing, hiking and a multitude of outdoor gastronomic experiences. The northern states experience a gradual decrease in humidity as the wet season transitions.

WINTER | June to August, offers a unique opportunity to explore the country’s iconic landscapes. With temperatures ranging from 10°C to 20°C (50°F to 68°F) depending on the state. Winter provides ideal conditions for visiting renowned landmarks such as Uluru, the Kimberley region, and the stunning Whitsunday Islands. Far North Queensland becomes particularly inviting, allowing for serene visits to the Great Barrier Reef and lush rainforests.

Winter is an excellent time to experience Australia’s diverse beauty, from vibrant coastal areas to breathtaking deserts and everything in between.
