When packing for your trip to Australia, please note that if you’re planning any helicopter or light plane transfers, it’s best to pack an additional, smaller, soft-sided bag, that will enable you to leave larger suitcase in storage for transfers to some remote island or outback accommodations. Additionally, internal flights typically have luggage restrictions of 20-23 kg, depending on the airline, however, if your internal flights are booked with your international ticket, you may enjoy larger luggage allowances on your internal Australian flights as part of your international fare. Check with your airline carrier.
Our team constantly travel Australia to uncover the extraordinary, travelling with our guides and staying at various accommodation. Whether you have a week or a month, Australia promises an unparalleled experience, but the duration of your stay significantly impacts your journey. We recommend at least three to four nights in each location to appreciate its beauty and offset the travel distance.
To maximise your adventure, determine your travel time based on your wish list. Ideally, you should allocate at least two to three weeks to fully appreciate the country’s diverse landscapes and vibrant cities, allowing you to explore iconic destinations like Sydney, Melbourne, and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as the icons of the outback like Uluru, the Kimberley or the spectacular coastlines of Western Australia. The distances between cities are considerable, so your choice to drive or fly will affect your itinerary. You can charter flights and helicopters if short on time to enable you to sample a bit of each vibrant city and its surroundings, or spend an entire week exploring a single coastline, or cruising the Whitsundays.
If you are short on time, focus on a specific region—whether it’s the stunning beaches of Noosa, the remarkable Kakadu wetlands, the culturally diverse Daintree rainforest in Far North Queensland, or the wineries of South Australia. Ultimately, balancing your travel wish list with the distances involved will help you savour the unique experiences Australia has to offer.
No! The Kangaroo is an Australian native animal and while Kangaroo Island is a great place to spot not only kangaroos, but many Australian native animals and wildlife – kangaroos can be found in many regions across the country. Some of the more well-know regions with touring in place include national parks, rural areas, and even urban settings on the fringes of major cities.
The Alquemie team can tailor a kangaroo spotting experience into any itinerary you choose. Popular places to see kangaroos include; the Southern Highlands, Blue Mountains, South Coast and Hunter Valley in New South Wales. The Grampians National Park in Victoria, the Outback and Western Australia coastline including the Margaret River, Queensland, South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula and just about anywhere Australia wide.
They tend to come out at dusk and dawn to feed on grasses and local fauna. Just keep an eye out—they’re more common than you might think!
